Adventure Of A Lifetime

Humans sometimes develop a dependency on plans by the time they get to adulthood. Plans tend to suggest efficiency, productivity and (as a result) personal satisfaction. Taking a walk in the company of a child tends to demand a shift in perspective, however. Children are process oriented; they are invested in the present. They are connected to the immediate.

For a child, the destination is rarely important. It truly is the journey that matters. What a great lesson they teach us, once we let go of our rigid plans! That’s when a walk becomes the adventure of a lifetime.

The attention of little children is continually being drawn to one thing or other on their walks. They stop to observe and admire things they see. They are like explorers.
