lullaby

Four thousand years ago an ancient Babylonian wrote down a cradle song sung by a mother to her child. Preserved in a small clay tablet, which fits neatly into the palm of a hand, are the words of one of the earliest lullabies on record.

Out of all the music we hear as children, there is something special about the emotional power that lies in a lullaby. These songs have soothed us at some of our most vulnerable times and many times connect us to our family, our culture, and our identity. All over the world children are soothed by the sounds of their family’s voices and every special interaction is stored inside every child forever.

My mother and I have recorded some special songs from my childhood that we would like to share with you. Even now, each time that we sing together or hear those songs elsewhere, we are reminded of moments spent together, and with others, many years ago. We hope you enjoy our snapshot back in time, encourage you to reflect on the music that has been special in your lives, and share all you can with the young ones in your life.
