Long November evenings bring opportunities for gathering together, sharing stories or books, and reflecting on the many things for which we are grateful. In celebration of our earth, our children and our community, we share with you these three poems of gratitude.

Enjoy!

Earth, we thank you for this food

For rest and home, and all things good

For wind and rain and sun above

But most of all for those we love.

The year has turned its circle,

The seasons come and go.

The harvest all is gathered in

And chilly north winds blow.

Orchards have shared their treasures,

 The fields, their yellow grain,

So open wide the doorway -

 Thanksgiving comes again!

How many slams in an old screen door?

Depends how loud you shut it.

How many slices in a bread?

Depends how thin you cut it.

How much good inside a day?

Depends how good you live ‘em.

How much love inside a friend?

Depends how much you give ‘em.
